Specific Requirements ·Responsible for in-person support at QCU campuses;·Provides advising services professionally and with empathy, anticipates student needs, proactively responds to student requests, provides recommendations extending beyond a student’s presenting request and finds opportunities to coach students toward independence and self-direction; ·Provide accurate student referrals towards campus resources, encourages students take ownership of their concerns and challenges; ·Contribute to the development and delivery of student upskilling programs; ·Initiate, draft and streamline student behavioral or other related policies and procedures; ·Provide guidance, support, and advice on a range of issues, including, but not limited to university policies and procedures and other information as required to students;·Communicate and collaborate with the relevant departments as well as internal & external stakeholders to ensure an appropriate flow of information and the smooth operations; ·Establishes and maintains organized and efficient files and records related to student services; ·Organize student activities or events as required; ·Collect and interpret feedback from stakeholders for further revision and continuous improvements of programs and activities; ·Participate in trainings and staff development schemes as both trainer and trainee as appropriate; ·Follows best practices and maintains ongoing professional development with relevant research and trends in student services; ·Othe work may be assigned.
Position Requirements Education and Competencies: ·Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Education, Psychology or related; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; ·Customer service experience an asset; ·Excellent spoken and written and communications skills in both Chinese and English; ·Advanced computer skills (MS office proficiency); ·Ability to handle confidential information in a responsible manner, maintain confidentiality, and to administer the privacy and freedom of information regulations; ·Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity; ·Demonstrated ability to respond to individuals in distress with care and empathy, while also maintaining appropriate boundaries; ·Demonstrated ability to manage conflict; ·Developed interpersonal skills with strong listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills; ·Ability to exercise good judgement and make appropriate referrals; ·Knowledge of policies and procedures governing student affairs and services within a postsecondary and preferably University environment; ·Ability to effectively communicate accurate information in one-on-one and diverse group situations, in both formal and informal settings; ·Accuracy and high level of attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
